Medical Heritage Library

Medical Heritage Library (MHL) is a digital curation collaborative among various important medical libraries. It provides access to historical resources in medicine. The collection of MHL contains various types of sources, such as rare books, pamphlets, journals, and video. They date from each of the past six centuries, and are made available through the Internet Archive. In November 2014, almost 59.000 items were available.

Free search is available, as well as search for author, title, subject, or date. In addition, items can be browsed according to subject or date. Metadata are provided for most items. Zoom options are available. OCR has been applied to the digitized images and the text is therefore searchable. Sources can be downloaded in various formats, such as PDF and ePub.

MHL is maintained by a number of contributing organizations and institutions.
