Lane’s Masonic Records

In 1895 the United Grand Lodge of England published John Lane’s Masonic Records 1717-1894, an authoritative listing of all the lodges established by the English Grand Lodges from the foundation of the first Grand Lodge in 1717 up until 1894. In 2003, the Centre for Research into Freemasonry and Fraternalism, in collaboration with the Library and Museum of Freemasonry in London, produced an electronic version of Lane’s book. Since 2008 the Library and Museum of Freemasonry has been adding lodges that came into existence after 1894 to the database, going up to the present day. This website provides access to all of these records.

Search by keyword, lodge name, lodge number, or serial number is possible. Advanced search is also possible. In addition, users can browse the records by lodge name, year of constitution, or location. For each lodge a detailed record is provided. These records can be downloaded in PDF format.

This project is a joint venture between the Library and Museum of Freemasonry and the Humanities Research Institute at the University of Sheffield.
