Images from the History of Medicine
Images from the History of Medicine (IHM) provides access to images in the collections of the History of Medicine Division (HMD) of the U.S National Library of Medicine (NLM). "Images from the History of Medicine (IHM) is an online picture database of nearly 70,000 images from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) History of Medicine Division's historical collections, with the majority of images from the Prints and Photographs Collection. IHM includes portraits, photographs, caricatures, genre scenes, posters, and graphic art illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine dated from the 15th to 21st century." Content of the collections is not at all limited to the USA. "There are four different ways to search IHM: the Search IHM box, Advanced Search, Browse All, and Browse Categories. For keyword searching, we recommend using the Search IHM box." The records from the Images from the History of Medicine database are also searchable in LocatorPlus. The United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) is a division of the National Institutes of Health operated by the United States federal government.
