Gramophone – Historical recordings from the Swiss National Sound Archives

Gramophone is a website that offers access to historical recordings from the Swiss National Sound Archives. The Swiss National Sound Archives is the official depository of audio records in Switzerland. It collects and catalogues audio documents related to the history and culture of Switzerland, both music and speech: for example recording of classical music, rock, jazz, and pop, audio books, stories, theatrical works, interviews, research documents (field recordings), and private collections. ‘Gramophone’ aims to safeguard and enhance a number of historical sound recordings (on cylinders and 78rpm records). In December 2015 the website gave access to over 200 historical sound documents.

The collection can be searched by title, name, or subject. It is also possible to browse the entire collection.

The sound recordings can be listened on the website itself. Metadata are available for each recording.
