The First Industrial Revolution

The First Industrial Revolution focuses on the industrial revolution that took place from the 1770s onwards in Britain. It provides manuscripts and printed books from the period, that deal with textile production, coal mining, and steam engines in the mechanization of industry. There is also a large collection of secondary literature on the topic.

The documents are sorted according to collection. Within each collection a basic search is possible, as well as browsing documents by name or subject. Documents can be consulted as images, which are shown in a manuscript viewer.

This is a project of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It was made possible in part by funding of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
