EUscreen offers public access to videos, stills, texts, and audio from a large number of European broadcasters and audiovisual archives. The material is in 19 different languages, and comes from the early 1900s until today. In May 2014 there were over 40.000 items available on the website.

Both basic search and a wide range of advanced search options are available. The items can also be browsed by topic, genre, language, or provider. In addition, some virtual exhibitions have been created, which cover historical events, political debates, and many aspects of everyday life in Europe.

The EUscreen portal was built by a consortium of European audiovisual archives, which was established in 2006 and which brings together 30 partners from 21 EU member states. As the audiovisual content aggregator for Europeana, the material in EUscreen is connected to an online collection of millions of digitized items from European museums, libraries and archives. The project is funded by the European Commission within the eContentplus programme.
