Bækur.is is a website of the National and University Library of Iceland, containing digitized Icelandic books. These books date from the 16th until the 21st centuries. The goal of the project is to enable access to all Icelandic books published prior to 1870 as digital reproductions. In August 2015 over a thousand books were available, with a total of over 322.000 pages. Most of the books are in Icelandic, but there are also some books in other languages, such as English, Danish, Latin, and French.

Books can be viewed in pdf, hq pdf, jpg, or txt format. Each page can be downloaded separately.
