Arago. Le portail de la photographie

Arago. Le portail de la photographie aims to provide free access to all photographic collections in France, both public and private ones. It has started with the collections of the Direction générale des Patrimoines and those of public establishments of the French Ministry of Culture and Communications. In December 2014 about 25.000 photos were available on the website, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. They came from 40 different collections in France. Photographers include also people from outside of France.

Material can be browsed by creator, theme, technique, collection, or galery. Basic and advanced search in the entire collection are also possible. Each item is accompanied by extensive information.

Arago is maintained by the Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais des Champs Elysées (Rmn-GP), falling under the French Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication.
