Volte, cupole, soffitti

Volte, cupole, soffitti (‘Vaults, domes, ceilings’) is a website dedicated to the vaults, domes, and ceilings that can be seen in historical palaces, churches, and villas in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna. They date from the 12th to the 20th century. These vaults, domes, and ceilings are photographed and catalogued. The website is continuously updated.

The vaults, domes, and ceilings can be browsed according to the province that they are in, according to creator, century, commissioner, or owner. In addition, all churches or all palaces can be browsed.

Extensive information is provided about the building as a whole; the vault, dome, or ceiling; its various details; and the artist. High-definition images of the vaults, domes, and ceiling are provided. Zoom options are available.

‘Volte, cupole, soffitti’ is a project by Giuseppe Porisini, with support of the Dipartimento per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici Direzione Regionale per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici dell’Emilia-Romagna, Ascom Bologna, and Provincia di Bologna.
