The Spectator Archive

The Spectator, based in London, is the oldest contuously-published magazine in the English-speaking world. The Spectator Archive provides access to the issues from 1828, when the first issue was published, until 2008: a total of 1,5 million pages.

Issues can be browsed chronologically. Within each issue all articles have been extracted separately. They are shown both in high-definition digitization and in transcription. Articles have also been tagged, so that the whole archive can be searched by content, keyword, topic, location, and date.
