The Philological Museum
The Philological Museum is a site devoted to Humanistic Letters, principally British, published under the auspices of The Shakespeare Institute of the University of Birmingham. The editors are Dana F. Sutton, General Editor, Professor Emeritus of Classics, The University of California at Irvine, Hon. Fellow, The Shakespeare Institute and Martin Wiggins, Associate General Editor, Fellow, The Shakespeare Institute, The University of Birmingham. The Museum contains two parts:
  • the Library of Hypertext Critical Editions of Humanistic Texts with full text available and critical apparatus. An alphabetical index by Authors lists all available texts by each single author.
  • an Analytic Bibliography of on-line Neo-Latin Texts by Dana F. Sutton. "The enormous profusion of literary texts posted on the World Wide Web [...] brings with it an urgent need for many specialized on-line bibliographies. The present one is an analytic bibliography of Latin texts written during the Renaisance and later that are freely available to the general public on the Web (texts posted in access-restricted sites, and Web sites offering electronic texts and digitized photographic reproductions for sale are not included). Only original sites on which texts are posted are listed here, and not mirror sites." The Bibliography is regularly updated and, in February 2010, 33,851 records and links to full text editions of books are available.
