The National Library of Finland has made a vast numbers of newspapers, periodicals, and small printed items available for use through its Digital Collections website. The website is subdivided in three sections that can be consulted separately: Newspapers, Ephemera, and Journals:
- Newspapers: the Newspaper Library contains images of the majority of newspapers published in Finland during 1771-1900. This section has been set up as part of the Nordic "Tiden" project, which came about with the support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
- Ephemera: the Ephemera Collection contains approximately 3 million prints. The material consist primarily of guidebooks, membership lists, invitations, menus, telephone directories, exhibition catalogues, brochures, time schedules, calendars, and so on and so forth.
- Journals: this section contains an extremely large variety of journals published in a number of Scandinavian languages. Users should be aware that only the journals up until 1910 are free for online use, because of copyright issues.
Each of the sections can be browsed or searched by using (advanced) search limits.
