This website provides access to the digitizations of the Mercure François, kept in the library of the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC). The Mercure was a gazette, printed in Paris from 1611 until 1648. There are 25 volumes in total, of which the first 24 are present on this website. In August 2014, over 26.000 images were available. The material is ordered according to volume, and within each volume according to year. Each page is shown on the website as a separate image. In addition, it is possible to see a slideshow of a volume, or to download a volume as pdf.
This project was made possible by the Groupe de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur l’Histoire du Littéraire (GRIHL-CRH). It is the result of a cooperation between the ENPC, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).
