Memoria in Beeld
The website Memoria in Beeld (Representations of Medieval Memoria) presents "images and descriptions of over 500 works of art from the geographical area that is now the Netherlands. The majority of these images were produced between c. 1450 and 1580. It has been determined for a large number of these objects that they had a function in the medieval commemoration of the dead." "This website and database are no longer updated. The information from the database of Representations of Medieval Memoria is currently being included into the larger database of Medieval Memoria Online (the MeMO project). This database is scheduled to be published online in January 2013." A free text search option, as well as extensive advanced search options are available. "The database and website have been created as part of The function of art, ritual and text in the medieval commemoration, a research project launched in 1996. The project is based at the Research Institute for History and Culture, Utrecht University." Memoria in Beeld has been realised with financial support from several partners.
