L’affaire Dreyfus

The website ‘L’affaire Dreyfus’ is entirely dedicated to the Dreyfus affair and contains various digitized primary sources.

  • On a suggestion of the authors of the book Le dossier secret de l'affaire Dreyfus, the Historical Department of the Ministry of Defense (Service Historique de la Défense or SHD) has undertaken the complete digitization of the documents included in the secret military file of the Dreyfus affair. The category ‘Dossier secret’ of the website contains a large selection of digitized material. Each page can be opened separately and can be downloaded. In addition there is a full transcript of the documents in the Dreyfus secret file (divided in various sections), which can be downloaded and searched by a full-text search.
  • ‘Resources - digitized books" contains editions of primary sources that can be viewed and downloaded. There are also some transcriptions of newspaper articles and letters.
  • Under the category ‘Photothèque’ hundreds of digitized photographs of protagonists of the Dreyfus affair. They can be opened separately and can be downloaded.

The website has been created and is maintained and by two historians, Pauline Peretz, associate professor at the University of Nantes, as well as associate researcher at the Centre d'études nord-américaines of Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales; Pierre Gervais associate professor at the University of Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis, as well as associate researcher at the IDHE UMR 8533 CNRS laboratory AND Pierre Stutin, computer project manager and historian of the Dreyfus Affair, which he has assiduously researched for the past twenty years.
