HathiTrust, founded in 2008, is a partnership of major research institutions and libraries working to ensure that the cultural record is preserved and accessible long into the future. There are currently (August 2015) more than 100 partners in HathiTrust. The collections of these partner institutions are brought together in digital form, providing access to millions of titles digitized from libraries around the world. In August 2015 there were ca.13.680.000 volumes available, including archives, audio, books, video, newspapers, maps, journals, music scores, and many other types of material.

Basic and advanced search are possible, both in full-text and in the catalogue. Images are shown in high definition. Users can add items to personal collections. They can also choose to share these collections publicly. If you are a member of a partner institution, more features are available, such as the possibility to download full PDFs of all public domain volumes.
