Fondazione 1563 per l’arte e la cultura is a cultural foundation of the Compagnia di San Paolo (1563-1853). This Compagnia di San Paolo was founded in order to help the poor. In the course of its existance it had various activities, such as social and educational works and help for women. It also became the main financial institution in the Italian city Turin, and as such managed the public debt of the State of Savoy from 1653 until 1730.

‘Fondazione 1563 per l’arte e la cultura’ is responsible for the historical archive of the Compagnia di San Paolo, which spans from 1563 to 1852. The entire archive of the Compagnia di San Paolo has been digitized and made available online. It consists in the descriptions of 4500 files and volumes, and 200.000 images associated with them. The sources include papal seals, testaments, heritage, dowry acts, genealogical trees, and other types of archival material. A large amount of information about the archive itself is also available on the website.
