Digitale Edition der Handschrift Cod. Guelf. 64 Weiss.

This project provides the digitization of the manuscript Cod. Guelf. 64 Weiss., one of the oldest and most important manuscripts in Germany. The oldest parts come from the late 5th century, while the main text was written in the early 8th century in Northern Italy. It is one of the two most important full versions of the Encyclopedia of Isidore of Seville. The text is written on pages that had been used before: the older texts had been erased, but can still be read. These older works date from Late Antiquity and are written in Latin, old Greek, and Gothic.

The website contains both a facsimile of the original codex as well as a transcription of the text. Images can be downloaded in JPEG format.

This is a project of the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, with support of the Gerda Henkel Stiftung.
