DiFMOE - Digitales Forum Mittel- und Osteuropa
"Das Portal historischer deutschsprachiger Periodika in Mittel- und Osteuropa!", is the portal for German historical newspapers in Central and Eastern Europe. The German-language publishing, printing and newspaper industry was particularly alive in Central and Eastern Europe from the end of the 18th Century until the end of WWII. Extensive holdings of newspapers are numerous in archives and libraries in Central and Eastern European countries today. The aim of the "Digital Forum Central and Eastern Europe" is to preserve digitally these partially-forgotten stocks of newspapers, to create secure digital formats and archives and to make them accessible through an online portal for the wider public. At the same time, the portal is thought to become also an interactive platform offering new opportunities to exchange information and to discuss these digital publication.
