De krant van toen

De krant van toen is a digital archive containing a series of newspapers from the northern part of the Netherlands:

  • Dagblad van het Noorden from 2006 until the present day. In the future, the entire archive of this newspaper (from its first publication in 1888) will be available online
  • Leeuwarder Courant from 1752 until the present day
  • The 38 journals that make part of NDC mediagroup, from October 2009 until the present day
  • The local journal Frisia (1896-1977)
  • The local journal Klaverblad (1967-1977)
  • The local journal Sawn Stjerren Nijs (1949 until the present day)

The most recent 30 days of the newspapers are never shown on this website. In November 2014 over a million pages were available. In addition, some historical maps are available.

Basic and advanced search are possible, either in one collection or in more than one at the same time. In addition, it is possible to browse material by newspaper and date. Pages are shown in their entirety, but it is also possible to select separate articles on these pages. The articles can be downloaded in PDF format.

The website is an initiative of the Stichting Digital Archief Noord-Nederland (SDANN), which is a collaboration between NDC mediagroep and the Frisian History and Literature Centre Tresoar.
