Cymru 1914. The Welsh experience of the First World War

Cymru 1914. The Welsh experience of the First World War, launched in October 2013, has conducted mass digitization of primary sources relating to the First World War from the libraries, special collections, and archives of Wales. The project aims to make available a digital collection that shown how the First World War impacted all aspects of Welsh life, language, and culture. The digital archive brings together source materials that were previously fragmented and frequently inaccessible.

Material can be browsed by type (newspapers, archives and manuscripts, photographs, journals, and sound). Basic search in the entire collection, in one category, or in one institution, is also possible. Various filter options can be used.

Images are shown in high definition. Zoom options are available.

This project has been funded by JISC and project partners. The project will be sustained by the National Library of Wales.
