The Commons - Les Organismes publics, is a Flickr historical photographs database which is made of funds coming from many different cultural institutions and libraries in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, the Netherlands and Sweden. These institutions loaded their own historical photographs as digitised primary sources. The images are with "no known copyright restrictions" indicating that these cultural institutions are "unaware of any copyright restrictions on the works so designated". The project was made thanks to the Library of Congress in Washington DC (USA) and aims to enhance the collections of photos with user comments. The participating European institutions are, at the moment:
