The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, dating back to the 14th century, is one of the four London based Inns of Court. The Inns of Court are responsible for the selection, training, and regulation of barristers in England and Wales.
A part of the website of the Inner Temple is devoted to the Inner Temple Calendars, which document the social and administrative history of the Inn in 1505-1845. Transcriptions can be found of:
- Acts of Parliament
- Bench Table Orders
- General Account and receipt books
- Admissions and Call records
- Other documents relating to the governance of the Inn
From 1898 until the present day these sources have been published, in 9 volumes. These volumes have now been scanned and are available online. Each of the books can be opened and downloaded as a separate pdf-file. Various volumes also contain an introduction. The pdf-files can be searched using a document wordsearch: text-mining is possible inside the books.
