Biblioteca Nacional Digital (BND) - Portugal
The Biblioteca Nacional Digital (BND) is a project of the Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (BNP). It offers access to over 22.000 documents that can be downloaded in various formats. The project is financially supported by the EU. The BND is divided in six main collections:
  • Livros (Books, from the 16th century).
  • Publicações Periódicas (Journals and newspapers, Index of titles available).
  • Iconografia (Visual sources).
  • Cartografia (maps).
  • Partituras (sheet music).
  • Espólios (estates): personal collections of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Camilo Pessanha, Antero de Quental, José Saramago, Rómulo de Carvalho, Fernando Pessoa, Florbela Espanca, Eça de Queirós, Vitorino Nemésio and Almeida Garrett.
Each collection can be browsed and searched by various criteria. The digitized documents can be viewed in PDF format. In addition, a large number of thematic sites with digitizd materials are available, which have been created by the BNP on the occasion of exhibitions and other commemorative events.
