Biblioteca Digital Ovidiana

Biblioteca Digital Ovidiana is a website devoted to the Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso, better known as Ovid. It aims to collect, study, and digitize all illustrated editions of Ovid’s works that are present in Spanish libraries (Galicia, Cataluña, and Castilla Leon) and that date from the 15th to the 19th century. It contains both data and images. In December 2015 over a hundred editions were present on the website.

A wide variety of search terms is available, such as title, work, place or date of publication, printer, illustrator, library, and subject field of illustration. Records can also be browsed by library, century, or edition. For each item a variety of bibliographic and iconographic information is provided, as well as images (one or several images per edition).

The website has its origins in a research project of the same title that has been in development at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela since 2007. It is the result of a series of research projects that were funded by the Ministerios de Ciencia y Tecnología, Ciencia e Innovación y Economía y Competitividad.
