Anglo-American Legal Tradition (AALT)

Anglo-American Legal Tradition (AALT) focuses on documents from medieval and early modern England. In December 2014, 8,5 million frames of historical material were present. Roughly, the contents range between 1272 and 1800, and cover the major legal and financial series of documents from the National Archives in London. However, AALT also contains some documents from other archives and some non-English material.

Documents are sorted chronologically according to ruler, year, and type of document, respectively. Some documents are shown as scanned versions of modern editions (in PDF format), while others are shown in their original version (in JPEG format) and can be downloaded.

AALT is sponsored by the by the University of Houston Law Center and by the University of Houston Department of History.
